I think its one of the better Miracords, and a good machine. Duals seem to be held in higher esteem now, but when these machines were current, Miracords were very strong competition for Duals. I think some of the reason for Dual's eventual dominance were emotional - Dual arms look like they ought to be lower mass, though whether they actually are meaningfully lower mass, and whether, in fact, lower mass is neccessarily good are not certain, and to many eyes, the Dual aesthetic is more pleasing.If yours has a good idler and the lubricants are not dried out, it ought to sound pretty good. This is one of the best Miracords. It does not have the hysterisis motor of the 'H' models, and thus has less low frequency noise. The push-button mechanism is extremely smooth.The arm mass is definitely higher that that in comparable Duals, but the square metal chrome-plated cross-section made for a very rigid assembly. The arm was fine with contemporary MM and MI cartridges, and I also remember stories of happy users with moving-coils (!).

I never tried this myself and don't remember if there also were stories of hum problems with some MCs. I doubt that anyone would use a MC today, but who knows? Vintage Denon?This was a very 'pretty' turntable, very rich in appearance (in the world of changers at least). Depending on where you bought it, the base and dustcover options were very nice, and it looked great mounted directly in an equipment cabinet like a Barzilay or JBL. It would still be a great item for when you want to simply push a button and play a record without worrying about the last inch of performance.
Well,this is the point, improve the Elac enough to fit a nice sounding cart, and it would be a great LP spinner!!what i mean is auto return!!! Mine is a 770, it looks like this 750/II except for speeds and adusting speed.Recently i made a little benchmark to decide between this 770 and my Thorens TD 166 for use on my premium system.I use the same LP, playing on each turntable and a switch, the amp is a Yamaha RXV 1800.Elac 770 cartridge is a Shure M91 ED with a genuine new styli and TD 166 Mk5 use a Goldring Elektra.The winner for me is the duo Elac 770/shure 91ED. Bass Level is more rich, trackability too and, very important for me, bass larsen is totally less with the Elac. On some very rare perfect LP, Thorens is a little more expressive in details, but the Elac is incredible good turntable for ordinary LP: scratches and little noise disappears!in addition, i baught a second headshell for using a Elac 355 cartridge and wired it in serial mono. With this equipment, old LP's before 1955 are quite good with no noise.i baught to 78 rpm styli, one 91-3 for the Shure and a ST 244-17 for the Elac, and it sounds incredibily good!initially, i baught this Elac for testing poor records after washing, and the chance was its look is like new. Now, i think it is one of the best turntable i know, with no rumble, and i think it is a surprise for an idler wheel machine!
